Stream: The Art Of The Artist Podcast Tackles The Art of Mindset With Guest R. Wayne Martin of mthree | martin music management

What separates the artist who are doing it big time and the ones barely getting their feet off the ground IS NOT TALENT. Sure, talent is a huge piece of the equation but it is not everything. In fact, it's the most basic thing in this whole music game (aka. everyone in this game is talented). So, then what's the thing that separates the big time artist and the amateurs? Mindset. My next guest for The Art of The Artist is Wayne Martin. Wayne Martin is a 35-year veteran of the American music industry who got his start at CBS Records working as a marketing representative for their roster of artists at Columbia Records, Epic Records, and nearly a dozen other corporate partners and imprints. He’s worked with big names in pop, rock, country such as Billy Joel (one of my absolute favorites), Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey and more. He’s also been on staff of NYU where he taught popular courses related to the global marketing of artists, songs and recordings, eventually earning a ten-year service award from the university. He’s ALSO worked for The Harry Fox Agency and FlySongs Music Publishing, gaining experience in the world of licensing and publishing, and he eventually transitioned into starting his own boutique artist management company, which was launched in 2014. In January 2019, he transformed his company into mthree which specializes in creator career management, music organization strategy, and performance and event development. This is a very special episode because we dive deep into why mindset is a game changer for every creative and get down to why "it" never really happens, why hard truths are great for music making/career building, and why you should be extremely grateful to be able to experience those hard truths. Also, everyone on here should hop over to Apple Music to check out Wayne's podcast called Small Plates - which is a monthly podcast with bite sized episodes for career development for professional and aspiring professional musicians/creatives of all kind.
